It's been two weeks since I last posted. You know, this break has been really, really nice so far. In so many ways, I feel free. But one funny thing that has happened, was on the Thursday right after I said I was stopping the weekly posts. That day, at multiple times throughout, I found myself thinking, "Oh, it's blog day. What should I write about this time?" Then I'd remember and think, "Oh...yeah. I don't have to! Cool."
For Memorial Day, we went to our grandma's (Nanny) house to visit and also to see Poppy's stone. It's been a year since our wonderful grandpa passed away.
After our trip to the cemetery, we headed back to Nanny's house. As the sun was setting in the west, some of us sat near a warm fire, ate homemade ice cream with strawberries, and deeply inhaled the sweet aroma of honeysuckles.
Little J. and I got to spend the night with Nanny and one of our cousins as well. We stayed up till after 1 AM and then got up at 6 something AM.
We have successfully started our garden. We might be a little late this year, but what plants we have are doing well and look far more like a garden than the two tomatoes with which we started.
This last weekend we went to our family reunion and enjoyed all that ties in with that--fishing, eating, talking, hiking, etc..
In between what I've already mentioned above, I've been taking care of dogs and we took all of the wall paper off Little J.'s room. Let me tell you, her room doesn't look like it use to! It's still a work in progress, but we're gaining.
Yesterday we five went into town so Big J. could take his written test in order to get his permit to drive. He passed! And he was able to drive us safely home afterward.
We also started the process to get our passports while in town.
As another treat, we ate at Pizza Hut and picked up a couple of plants for the yard.
So there's a little about what's been happening on the Ranch.
